Gallaudet University / Washington, D.C. Field Trip 2024
Through the LAUSD CAP Program, I was able to take ASL 4 and our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Juniors and Seniors to Washington, D.C. We got to visit Gallaudet University, the only Liberal Arts college for the Deaf in the United States! We got to visit Deaf historical sites and learn more about the university. We met and socialized with Deaf students, being able to use our skills out in the community. We also got to visit sites in Washington, D.C. It was such an amazing opportunity and such a proud teacher moment seeing my students immerse themselves by only signing all weekend! There were many layers to this field trip!
Silent Weekend 2023
Silent Weekend is a field trip opportunity for ASL students! One weekend in March, ASL students of all levels go to Big Bear with other ASL students from other schools and we fully immerse ourselves in sign language and Deaf culture. We turn our voices off and only sign all weekend, even when we're out and about in The Village communicating in stores and restaurants!
